General Rules:
I.- The Styx is an 18+ venue. Both the writer (OOC) and their character (IC) must be over the age of 18 in order to attend and participate.
II. - While Lalafell are permitted to partake in The Styx's various services, we have a zero tolerance policy for Lalafell NSFW. This will result in an immediate ban from our venue.
III. - We have a firm zero-tolerance policy for bigotry, both IC and OOCly . This includes, transphobia (including futa/F+), homophobia, racism, ableism, and so on. Don't be a dick.
IV. - Do not bring OOC drama into the venue. Keep it outside. If you believe there is a situation management should be aware of due to a genuine safety risk, please reach out to management directly and privately. Be aware that we will likely ask for documentation. On a similar note, IC drama is fine. However, physical/magical force is strictly forbidden outside of the pit. Don't start a fight unless you're the scheduled entertainment. Additionally, be aware that our bouncers may do a check-up if things are starting to get a little heated.
V. - Please route all forms of OOC chatter (including emote spam) to private channels. This is to ensure the chat log stays clean and immersive!
VI. - Please note that player characters fashioned as replicas of canon NPCs (EX: Estinien, Aymeric, Gaius, etc.) are not welcome inside the venue during operating hours. This is purely for the sake of IC immersion for staff & patrons who write outside the scope of MSQ.Violating this rule alone will not get you banned from The Styx, but management will likely ask you to leave and return on a non-NPC character.
VII. - Please dismiss all minions and pets before entering the venue. Fighters are permitted to have minions/pets out provided they are relevant to the fight at hand, but these will be dismissed upon exiting the ring.
VIII. - Staff members will be marked with a yellow "Looking to Meld" icon next to their name. If you need assistance, please seek one of them out and send a /tell!
X. - If you aren't fighting, you aren't allowed in the ring. Unless your name is on our list, stay out of there. No surprise tag-teams.
XI. - For rules regarding our combat and betting systems, please check their respective pages. All patrons are expected to be familiar with said systems before participating in them. We're here if you have any questions, of course!
Our escalation process will vary depending on severity/context of a situation.Management retains the right to remove an individual from the venue for ANY reason if it is deemed necessary to preserve a positive and comfortable environment for both our staff and patrons. While an explanation will typically be provided, it is by no means necessary.

Fighter Rules:
The Basics:
I. - First fighter to score three points wins. Points are earned through successful attacks! Do it three times! Easy enough, yeah?
II. - Fighters are expected to send their emotes in yell (/y) chat. This is to make sure your reply is visible and EVERYONE—including your opponent and the announcer—can see it easily!
III. - All matches have a 20 minutes time limit. To make sure things flow smoothly, all matches will have a 20 minute cap. If 20 minutes elapse and neither fighter has reached three points yet, the announcer will call the fight. The fighter with the highest amount of points will be declared the winner. However, if there is a tie, the announcer will call for both fighters to roll. The fighter that rolls higher will be declared the winner.
General rules:
III.- Anything but death is permitted. You're not here to kill each other, nor are we here to be complicit in murder. You can use whatever means you'd like to secure a win, but an attempt on another fighter's life will result in a forfeited match.
IV. - If your name isn't on the list of scheduled fighters, you are not allowed in the pit . This means no surprise tag teams, no swap-outs, and no replacements, and so on.
V. - Do not send attacks, such as projectiles, magic bolts, thrown objects, or whatever else outside of the ring. There are (IC) wards blocking these types of attacks from exiting the pit.Any attempt to harm a patron not involved in a fight will result in the fighter responsible forfeiting the match.
V. - Please enter the pit via the stairs on each side of the back wall. The (IC) wards mentioned prior also block things from entering the pit... which can potentially include your character if they try to hop the fence. Your announcer will let you know when it's time to gather by the stairs.
VI. - Fighters are permitted to have minions/pets out provided they are relevant to the fight at hand. Just note that these will need to be dismissed before leaving the pit.
Terminology:
IV. - Roll: Short way of saying a roll of the dice. To roll ingame, just type "/random" (minus the quotes) into the chat box. It'll spit out a number 1-1000 for everyone to see.
I. - The Pit: This is another word for the arena that's in the dead center of the room!
II. - Attack Roll: A roll that determines how successful your character is at hitting the other fighter. The higher you roll, the more likely you are to secure a hit. A successful hit earns you one point!
III. - Defense Roll: A roll that determines how successful your character is at defending against an incoming attack. The higher you roll, the more likely you are to not get hit. A successful defense prevents the fighter from scoring a point!
IV. - Counter Attack: When a fighter rolls a SUCCESSFUL defense of 850 or higher, this would be considered a counter-attack.This is considered a successful defense AND a guaranteed hit for the defending player!
fight Examples:
1. - Basic Example:
- Both fighters roll initiative.
- The fighter who rolls higher attacks first.Turn 1:
- Fighter A emotes their attack and then rolls for their attack afterward. They roll a 300.
- Fighter B then rolls a defense. They roll a 500.
- Since B's defense roll is higher, this would be considered a successful defense!
- B would emote a successful defense.
- Since no successful attack was landed, the match is still 0-0.Turn 2:
- Now it's Fighter B's turn to attack. They roll a 600 and then emote.
- Fighter A rolls a 500 in defense.
- Since Fighter A's defense roll was lower than the attack, Fighter B secures a hit and a point!
- Fighter A emotes a failed defense.
- The match is now 0-1, with B scoring a point against A.The cycle continues until one fighter eventually scores 3 points.
2. - Counter Attack Example:
- Both fighters roll initiative.
- The fighter who rolls higher attacks first.Turn 1:
- Fighter A emotes their attack.
- Fighter A rolls a 300.
- Fighter B then rolls a defense. They roll an 850. This is a counterattack... which means a successful defense AND a guaranteed hit!!
- Fighter B emotes their defense and their successful attack.
- Fighter A emotes a failed defense.
- The match is now 0-1, with B scoring a point against A thanks to the counter-attack.The cycle continues until one fighter eventually scores 3 points.

Betting & Payouts:
General Rules:
I.- All bets will involve OOC gil by default. Don't place a bet if you don't have the gil (and confidence) to back it.II. IC gil will be permitted in very select circumstances. If you have an IC plotline that would require the use of IC gil, please message management well in advance (>24hrs prior to opening) and let us know what you have in mind! While it's not a guarantee, we'd love to work with you!
III. - All bets are placed before a fight starts. Once your trade with the night's bookie goes through, your bet is locked in. Outside of select situations (see below), no refunds will be issued past this point.
IV. - If a fight is declaired forfeit, all bets will be refunded. There is no glory to be gained (whether financial or emotional) from a fight that's declared to have never happened.
V. - Please bet responsibly! Betting is by no means required to participate and attend our venue. Only place a bet if you're okay with the potential risk of losing that money.IV. - It is your responsibility to return to the bookie's desk to collect your payout. While you can collect your payout at any time before the venue closes, we would prefer it collected ASAP for our convenience. We will not chase you down for this.
payout logic:
Payouts are your initial bet plus a percentage of the loser's pool based on how much you contributed to the winner's pool. That is, to say...LARGER BETS MEANS LARGER PAYOUTSII. - The house takes a 15% overhead of the loser's pool. This is to help keep us the venue up and running!
Placing your bet:
I. - Walk up to the betting counter, which is in the back corner next to the stairs. The bookie will greet you, ask you to name your fighter, and ask you for the gil amount you'll be betting.II. - State the name of the fighter you think will win and the amount of gil you're betting on them. You can say this out loud ICly, or send the bookie a /tell OOCly providing this info. This information will be logged on our end!III. - The bookie will open a trade with you. Input the amount of gil you're betting and lock the trade in!IV. - Let the punches roll! Stick around and watch your fight! Hopefully, you win!V. - Fight's over? It's payout time, baby!

PAYOUT EXAMPLE:
Pre-Fight:
- Player A bets 100k on Fighter X.
- Player B bets 50k on Fighter X.
- Player C bets 25k on Fighter Y.Post-Fight:
- Fighter X wins!
- Since Fighter Y lost, the house takes 15% of their pool.Payout Process:
- Player A gets their full bet back, plus 67% of what remains of Fighter Y's pool.
- This would be 100,000 gil + 14,167 gil, which is a payout of 114,167 gil total.
- Player B gets their full bet back (50k), plus 33% of what remains of Fighter Y's pool (7,083).
- This would be 50,000 gil + 7,083 gil, which is a payout of 57,083 gil total.
- Player C loses all their gil since their fighter lost.
